Sources: Seny Dieng undergoing Middlesbrough medical after QPR deal agreed
Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Seny Dieng is undergoing a medical at Middlesbrough on Friday (7 July), sources have told Football Insider.
The Teesside club have agreed a deal with QPR for the 28-year-old and are now putting the finishing touches on his arrival at the Riverside Stadium.
Football Insider revealed last week (28 June) that Middlesbrough and Hull City made bids for Dieng.
But Boro have now won the race for the shot-stopper’s signature and are set to add him to their squad for the 2023-24 campaign.
The interest comes after Dieng‘s impressive performances in what was an underwhelming 2022-23 campaign for QPR.
He had entered the final year of his contract at Loftus Road, meaning the London club were forced to cash in to avoid the risk of losing him for free.
The Senegal international made 48 appearances in all competitions for QPR last term and started all of their Championship games.
He kept nine clean sheets and conceded 74 goals in those outings.
Dieng joined QPR on a free transfer from AFC Fylde in 2016 but only became a regular in the 2020-21 campaign – and has since racked up 121 appearances for the club.
He had loan spells at Whitehawk, Stevenage, Dundee and Doncaster Rovers and has also played in Switzerland and Germany.

Middlesbrough are ready to add another goalkeeper to their squad after loan star Zach Steffen returned to Man City at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
Michael Carrick’s side missed out on promotion via the playoffs last season and are one of the favourites for a top-six finish yet again next term.
