Sources: Tottenham step up Alex Scott chase after Man City masterclass amid ‘£20m’ update
Tottenham are firmly in the chase for highly-rated Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
This site revealed on Monday (27 February) that Newcastle, Wolves, West Ham and Crystal Palace are set to do battle for the 19-year-old in the next transfer window.
It is believed that Tottenham are also pushing hard in an attempt to bring Scott to north London.
Football Insider revealed last month (13 Febryary) that a scout from the Londoners was at City’s 1-0 Championship win over Norwich City last Saturday to run the rule over Scott.
Bristol City are ready for more offers in the off-season as Scott continues to impress at Ashton Gate, and continue to value him at £25million.
Wolves moved for the Guernsey-born star in January but were unwilling to meet that valuation.
However, it is believed Bristol City would find it hard to resist a bid of £20million with Scott having just two years left on his contract at the end of this term.
The youngster’s performance against Man City in the FA Cup on Tuesday (28 February) will have done his chances of a Premier League move no harm.
Scott dominated his opponents in an outstanding personal display despite his side falling to a 3-0 victory at home against the Citizens.
The England Under-20 international has started all but one second-tier game this season amid 39 appearances in all competitions.
He was part of the Three Lions’ Under-19 side which lifted the European Championships trophy in 2022.
The 19-year-old’s versatility is one of the most impressive aspects of his game, as he is able to play any midfield role.
Scott, who started his professional career at non-league side Guernsey, previously trained with Southampton and Bournemouth as a youth.

Tottenham could qualify for the Champions League next season.
They are four points ahead of fifth-place Newcastle but have played two more games than the Magpies.
