Sources: Tottenham now want to sign Morgan Gibbs-White – he plays the Spurs way
Tottenham have set their sights on a deal for Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that Spurs have been watching the 23-year-old all season, and their interest is growing as the summer transfer window approaches.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Tottenham scouts believe Gibbs-White has “hugely improved” and “gone to the next level” since joining Nottingham Forest last summer (2022).
They are of the opinion that the England Under-21 international still has the potential to improve in coming years.
He is regarded as fitting the classic Tottenham player profile due to his flair, invention and great work ethic.
It is believed that Nottingham Forest will find it hard to keep Gibbs-White at the club if they are relegated – which is a real possibility as the Premier League run-in approaches.
Steve Cooper’s side leapt out of the drop zone after beating Brighton 3-1 on Wednesday (26 April) but are just one point above the bottom three with five games remaining.
They face high-flying Brentford on Saturday (29 April).
Gibbs-White cost Forest a reported potential club-record fee of £42.5million including add-ons last summer (2022) – with the Midlands side paying Wolves an initial £25million for his services.
As per FBRef, the 23-year-old earns a wage of £80,000-a-week at the City Ground.
The versatile midfielder has turned out 35 times across all competitions for Forest this season, notching four goals and six assists.
Tottenham are currently without a playmaking midfielder following the reign of Antonio Conte – who exclusively played a 3-5-2 system.

Spurs are currently searching for a full-time manager after appointing Ryan Mason until the end of the season on Monday (25 April) – their second interim boss of the month.
The Lilywhites sit fifth in the Premier League with five games remaining.
