Sources: Tottenham plan to sign midfielder under 24
Midfield is a priority area for Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves the club this month, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (8 January) that Hojbjerg’s potential move from Spurs to Juventus has hit the rocks after initial negotiations.
A deal is not completely dead, and the Denmark international could yet go elsewhere, but the Serie A side have baulked at Tottenham’s loan fee demands.

It is believed Postecoglou will only sanction an exit for Hojbjerg if a midfielder is coming in to replace the 28-year-old.
Spurs’ policy in recent windows has been to sign talent under the age of 24 – and it is believed that strategy could come into play once again this month.
The likes of Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro have all made the move to north London recently.
One potential target is Blackburn starlet Adam Wharton, who has caught the eye of scouts from Tottenham in recent months.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (8 January) that Tottenham recruitment chiefs feel Wharton is a potential star in the making and the club are now readying a move.
Postecoglou’s side are currently without midfield duo Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma – who are both at the African Cup of Nations.

Tottenham are closing in on their first January arrival – with ex-Chelsea striker Timo Werner set to join on a loan-to-buy deal from RB Leipzig.
Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League after 20 games and ahead of their next fixture against Man United on Sunday (14 January).
