Sources: Tottenham tell starlet Dante Cassanova to find new club

Tottenham rising star Dante Cassanova has been told he’s free to find a new club, Football Insider understands.

The midfielder, 17, had been hoping to secure a professional contract with the London giants when his two-year scholarship deal expires this summer.

But a Spurs source has told Football Insider that Cassanova has been told he will be released when his current deal ends on 30 June.

The second-year academy scholar is now looking for a new club.

Cassanova, a defensive midfielder who can also play at right-back, has been on trial at relegated Championship club Derby County.

He first turned out for the Rams on 22 January in an Under 18s game against Leeds United.

The defender has since returned to Spurs and made a further four appearances in the Premier League 2, taking his total number of outings for this season to 13.

Speaking to Football Insider in January, Spurs expert John Wenham claimed he was not surprised to see the youngster on trial after being usurped by younger players at Hotspur Way.

According to Wenham, 15-year-old Samuel Amo-Ameyaw is now ahead of him in the pecking order as Cassanova was primarily being used as a right-back during his time at Tottenham.

As per Tottenham’s official site, Cassanova made his debut for the Under 18s in January 2020, while still a schoolboy.
