Sources: Tottenham youngster ruled out for five weeks

Tottenham youngster Alfie Dorrington has been ruled out for five weeks due to injury, sources have told Football Insider.

The rising star, 17, has broken down after being fast-tracked through Spurs’ youth set-up and being a key member of the club’s Under-21s side this season.

Tottenham expect the centre-back to be out until at least mid-December in what is a blow for their Under-21s.

The London giants will go to the bottom of Premier League 2’s top division if they lose at current bottom club West Ham on Friday night.

Dorrington started the season in Spurs’ Under-18s side but has made such good progress he has established himself for the Under-21s and in the Uefa Youth League.

The Enfield-born talent has also made two starts in the EFL Trophy against Wycombe and Stevenage’s senior sides.

The centre-back, who has been with Tottenham since the age of 13, signed his first professional deal in April – days after his 17th birthday.

Dorrington received his first England Under-18 call-up in September and turned out against the Faroe Islands and Belgium in his maiden appearances.

Goalkeeper Luca Gunter and forward Jamie Donley are also among the Tottenham representatives in the Young Lions side.

Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine, Harvey White, and Troy Parrott are among the most exciting Spurs starlets currently waiting to break through under Antonio Conte.

The Italian has used youth sparingly this season as the Londoners sit fourth in the Premier League after 14 outings.

Tottenham face Leeds United on Saturday (12 November) in their last game prior to the mid-season World Cup break.
