Darren Moore has been the driving force behind West Brom’s pursuit of newly-named technical director Luke Dowling, Football Insider sources understands.
The Midlands club have been searching for a new technical director since the departure of Italian Giuliano Terraneo earlier this summer after just two months in the role.
West Brom announced on their official website this morning that Dowling had beaten off stiff competition to land the post after getting an emphatic thumbs-up from manager Moore.
A well placed source has told Football Insider that Moore is a big admirer of Dowling and he has backed the appointment to help reshape the club’s recruitment going forward after a difficult summer transfer window.
A number of names have been linked with the vacancy at the Hawthorns, but West Brom have decided to go with Dowling to fill the role which will mainly focus on player recruitment.
Dowling has been working at Championship rivals Forest since February and he boasts a wealth of experience after working at the likes of Watford, Portsmouth and Leeds.
The Baggies are third in the Championship table at the moment with 17 points from nine matches, a point behind second-placed Middlesbrough.
