Sources: West Ham to complete striker signing – and then let Danny Ings go

Negotiations are ongoing between West Ham and Wolves over a deal for striker Danny Ings, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (8 January) that the Irons want a loan fee for the 31-year-old and will also demand Gary O’Neil’s side cover his wages for the duration of any potential agreement.

However, it is believed West Ham are keen on signing a striker of their own and will not sanction an exit for Ings until a replacement is secured.

Wolves

The former Aston Villa forward has started just four games for David Moyes’ side across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign and is yet to score or assist this term.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (8 January) that West Ham manager Moyes and his recruitment staff are working overtime to add a new striker to the squad this month.

It is believed both Montpellier star Akor Adams and Paris Saint-Germain ace Hugo Ekitike are both on the radar for the London side.

The Irons are desperate for striking reinforcements this month after an injury setback for Michail Antonio and allowing Gianluca Scamacca to leave without a replacement last summer.

West Ham are currently without top scorer Mohammed Kudus, who joined the club from Ajax last summer and has lead the line at times for Moyes’ side.

Ings has failed to fill the void left by Antonio and Scamacca this season after joining West Ham from Aston Villa 12 months ago.

West Ham

The Hammers sit sixth in the Premier League table ahead of their next top-flight fixture against Sheffield United on 21 January.

Moyes’ side will also need striking reinforcements ahead of the Europa League’s knockout stage, which kicks off in March.

In other news, West Ham could now sell forward right at the end of January window.
