Sources: Wigan Athletic plot move to sign Hibernian star Demetri Mitchell
Wigan are plotting a move for Hibernian defender Demetri Mitchell, sources have told Football Insider.
Mitchell, 25, has struggled for first-team opportunities this season under Lee Johnson at Hibs, making just three appearances in the Scottish Premiership and he could be tempted by a move away in search of regular action.
Wigan boss Kolo Toure is determined to add to his squad during this month’s transfer window and he is targeting a move for former Manchester United left-back Mitchell.

The Latics are rock-bottom of the Championship table and Toure has made defensive reinforcements one of his main priorities in the transfer window to boost their chances of securing survival in the second half of the season.
Mitchell spent 13 years at Man United, rising through the ranks of the youth academy before spending three years in the senior team.
He made just one senior appearance for the Red Devils, though, before completing a permanent switch to Blackpool in 2020.

The young left-back spent two years with the Seasiders before moving north of the border to Hibernian.
After scoring in his first-ever start for the club, his time in Scotland has tailed off and a Championship move could now be on the cards.
