Sources: Wigan Athletic ready offer for Leeds midfielder Owen Bray
Wigan are ready to offer a contract to Leeds United rising star Owen Bray, Football Insider has learned.
The midfielder, 19, is set to quit Elland Road at the end of the season after failing to agree a contract extension.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Wigan are in pole position to sign Bray after he featured for their Under-23s in midweek.
He has been told he is free to leave United and is actively looking for a new club.
Leeds extended Bray‘s scholarship deal last summer (2021) by 12 months but he is now set to end his association with the club.
His appearance for the Latics was his first game of the season at the Under-23 level.
Whites youth stars Joe Gelhardt and Sean McGurk have both come to Yorkshire from the DW Stadium.
Now Bray looks set to move in the opposite direction.
The youngster is eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland, and can operate both in central midfield and on the right flank.
He has failed to make a youth appearance for Leeds United this term but has notched six Under-18 games and one Under-23 game in total.
The youngster has failed to follow in the footsteps of talents like Gelhardt, Charlie Cresswell, Sam Greenwood and Crysensio Summerville – who have all featured in the first team this term.
Leeds United sit 16th in the Premier League – five points clear of the drop zone.

Meanwhile, Wigan look set to play Championship football next season.
The Latics sit top of League One by five points with three games remaining.
