Sources: Wolves fighting off two Championship clubs to agree deal for Jorgen Strand Larsen replacement

Wolves, Coventry and Middlesbrough are plotting moves for Mali hot-shot Lassine Sinayoko to bolster their attacking options, sources have told Football Insider.

Sinayoko impressed at last month’s Africa Cup of Nations, scoring three goals for Mali as they reached the quarter-finals before losing to eventual winners Senegal.

The 26-year-old has also caught the eye for Auxerre in Ligue 1 with six goals and two assists in 18 appearances, bringing him onto the radar of a number of clubs across Europe.

Sinayoko extended his contract until 2027 last week, but he is potentially available for around £8million this month.

Wolves are looking at striking reinforcements as a potential replacement for the in-demand Jorgen Strand Larsen, while Coventry’s strike duo Haji Wright and Ellis Simms are also attracting interest, and Boro are keen to add to their firepower to boost their promotion bid.

Why Lassine Sinayoko is attracting attention

Sinayoko has been Mali’s danger man for some time now, scoring three goals at the Africa Cup of Nations for the second time.

He did so in the 2023 edition of the tournament, and his goals again led his nation to the quarter-finals earlier this month.

Sinayoko is a very active forward, always appearing ready to chase down a through ball or get on the end of a cross.

It is outside of the box where much of his best work comes, with the 26-year-old completing 21 dribbles in Ligue 1 so far this season, and winning 25 free kicks.

There is still questions to be asked about Sinayoko’s goal-scoring capabilities – three of the striker’s six Ligue 1 goals this season have come from the penalty spot.

But the forward will put himself in the right place to get chances, that is for sure.

Jorgen Strand Larsen interest continues to grow

Leeds United have emerged as a strong contender for Strand Larsen in recent days, as transfer chiefs attempt to bolster Daniel Farke‘s side.

The Norway international signed a new contract in the summer, but is now keen to leave the soon-to-be relegated Wolves.

Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have also been linked with a move for the striker, but Leeds appear to have raced to the front of the pack.

Wolves are expected to demand around £40m for Strand Larsen, who is under contract until 2030.
