‘Southampton to sack Russell Martin today’ – fans react to big twist

Southampton supporters have demanded that the club sack Russell Martin this weekend after the club failed to defeat Brighton on Friday (29 November).

The Saints came from behind to rescue a point at the Amex Stadium courtesy of a goal from Flynn Downes, but the result wasn’t enough to lift them off the foot of the Premier League table.

Martin’s side remains bottom of the league with just one win and five points gained from the opening 13 fixtures with the rest of the division still to play this weekend.

Southampton are currently four points adrift of safety as the pressure continues to mount on Martin to turn their fortunes around immediately.

Football Insider previously revealed that the club will not be put off from sacking Martin over concerns about compensation payouts, with the cost expected to be around £12million to replace him.

Martin was handed a new contract at St Mary’s Stadium after leading the Saints back to the Premier League last season, but their difficult start to the campaign has led to fans wanting to see a change in the dugout.

Southampton fans have seen enough from Russell Martin

Supporters have claimed that Martin is “out of his depth” coaching in the Premier League while others begged the club to “please get rid” of him.

The Saints are now set for a difficult run of fixtures where they will face, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Tottenham in the Premier League before playing against Liverpool in the EFL Cup.
