'Speaking to him...' - Exclusive: Pundit 'Buzzing' after Aston Villa exit confirmed
Alan Hutton has been left “buzzing” after Henri Lansbury quit Aston Villa to join Bristol City.
The former Villa and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed the midfielder had been feeling “quite low” about his situation at Villa Park after being left out of the 25-man Premier League squad.
Football Insider first revealed Bristol City’s interest in signing the 30-year-old last Friday morning.
Villa then announced they had agreed to mutually terminate Lansbury’s contract on Friday evening, while Bristol City confirmed his capture on a short-term deal later that night.
The former Nottingham Forest midfielder played just 10 times in the Premier League last season and was limited to just three League Cup outings this term.
Hutton, who played alongside the midfielder for both Forest and Villa, has admitted he is delighted for his old teammate after a difficult couple of years.

Hutton told Football Insider: “I was so happy for him when he told me just before it happened, I was buzzing.
“He’s had a difficult time, obviously got brought in as a big player when we were in the Championship. It didn’t quite work out for him in the years that he was there so to see him going and getting that move and get back to playing, I was thrilled for him.
“He wasn’t even the squad, the 25-man squad, which is difficult so he’s not even with the team. I think the last few months were hard on him. Obviously speaking to him, he was quite low about it.
Henri Lansbury has joined Bristol City for the remainder of the season after completing a move from Aston Villa.

“To get this move and get back to doing what he does best and playing at a good club, they’ve got a great stadium, a great fan base as well so I think he will do well there.
“He’s still got so much more to give, that’s the thing, it’s not like he’s an old player seeing out the last couple of years, he’s got a lot of years left in his legs so looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch.”
