This is one rumour that just won’t go away – but it looks like this summer will finally bring the curtains down on Gareth Bale’s time at Real Madrid.
The big question is, where will he go next?
The Mirror reported that he would be open to a move to China at some point in his career, but at 28 that would surely be after one last big move.
There will be no shortages of offers for the Welsh international, who proved he’s still got it by banging in a hat-trick for his country against China last week.
The Mirror claims that Man United will make a bid for him in the summer and they’re the current bookies favourites, with the player now odds on to leave Real Madrid in the summer.
But his odds of moving to Tottenham have been slashed too – they’re now just 7/2 from 20/1 in January.

And most Tottenham fans would love to see him return to north London, although it’s not a unanimous verdict.
His niggling calf injury is one concern fans have got, with one saying that he’s not fit enough for the Pochettino era.
The Tottenham manager is well known for his physicality and demanding his players are at absolute peak fitness.
But the money could be the real sticking point, unless he’s willing to take a pretty drastic pay cut to try and fire Tottenham towards their first Premier League title.
However, one fan is desperate for him to come back and has promised to go to church every Sunday for the rest of his life if he returns to Spurs.
Here are the best reactions from Tottenham fans after news of the odds being slashed on Bale leaving Spain in the summer:
Really torn on this one. I don’t want to see him produce those four or five special moments in a season for ManU, but, I don’t want him on the Spurs training table for 75% of the season. #THFC #COYS

We can't afford Toby's wages let alone bale's

Given that he earns 300k a week and won’t accept a pay cut I don’t thinks there’s any chance of him ever playing for Spurs again.

If he came back he'll have to take a huge cut in wages because that would upset a few players I say no he'll go to Manchester Utd if he comes back he has to come back for his luv of Tottenham and the fans and agree to s pay cut
— Craig (@craig_craigmac) March 26, 2018
He’ll end up at UTD, miserable under Jose, but with a big salary so that’s fine.
