Stan Collymore has stated that there are “still questions” over Jordan Henderson as Liverpool captain after their 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old midfielder played the full match as Shane Long’s stoppage-time strike ensured the Saints progressed through to the final.
Claude Puel’s side won the first leg with the same scoreline as they have now reached the final of the League Cup for the first time since 1979.
The visitors deserved the win over the two legs as they stopped Jurgen Klopp’s side from scoring in both encounters.
Nonetheless, after the game, former Premier League striker Collymore delivered his verdict on the Reds performance as posted on his personal Twitter account.
“Liverpool season isn’t over,” said Collymore. “[But there are] still questions over Jordan Henderson as skipper.”
#LFC season isn't over but the heavy metal football has given way somewhat to Prog rock. Still questions over JH as skipper pour moi.

Henderson has played 24 games in all competitions for Klopp’s side this season, scoring one goal and supplying four assists.
His last goal came against current Premier League leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in September.
The Merseyside club have picked up one win in their last seven matches and that came against League Two outfit Plymouth in an FA Cup third-round replay.
Furthermore, they have lost back-to-back games after league strugglers Swansea picked up an impressive 3-2 win at Anfield last Saturday.
Klopp’s side will now turn their attention to the FA Cup where they will take on Paul Lambert’s Wolves on home soil.
In other Liverpool news, supporters on Twitter have reacted to Joel Matip’s display against Southampton.
