Stan Collymore shares Aston Villa promotion hopes after win v Wigan
By Harvey Byrne
Football pundit Stan Collymore has shared that he feels Aston Villa can still make a claim for promotion after their win against Wigan.
The Midlands giants ran out 2-0 victors over the managerless Lancashire club at the DW Stadium.
It needed two second half goals from defender James Chester and January forward signing Scott Hogan to ensure Steve Bruce’s side took the three points home.
The win has lifted Villa up to 12th place in the Championship table, 11 points from sixth with just eight matches of the season left.
Some feel that it is too late for the club to finish in a possible promotion spot this season, but after the game Collymore shared a GIF on his personal Twitter account stating ‘you can do it’ in reference to table.

Aston Villa have had a so far unimpressive season in the Championship after spending big money in the summer in an attempt to make an instant return to the Premier League.
They sacked Roberto Di Matteo in October after a string of poor results, replacing him with the experienced Bruce.
It has taken the former Hull and Birmingham boss some time to get the club firing again, but fans will now be hoping the team continues with it’s impressive form with the promotion hope still alive.
