Stefan Borson can’t believe Liverpool latest – ‘fans will be outraged’
Liverpool fans have clashed with the club’s Fenway Sports Group (FSG) ownership despite their success on the pitch under Arne Slot in the 2024-25 campaign.
Supporters have taken issue with a lack of transfer investment this term and have held a number of demonstrations over ticket prices.
Nevertheless, Slots’ Reds sit top of the Premier League by 11 points and are one of the favourites for success in the Champions League this season.
The good news for Liverpool fans keeps coming after a new announcement from Anfield, which now holds 61,276 after redevelopment work finished last year (2024).

Premier League boardrooms ‘disappointed’ after Liverpool price freeze
Liverpool confirmed last week (17 February) that they will freeze general admission and season ticket prices for the 2025-26 season.
The club had increased prices by 2% ahead of the current campaign but will not increase prices for next season after protests and action from fan groups.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that clubs across the Premier League will have been “disappointed” to see Liverpool take that decision.
He claimed fans of other clubs will be “outraged” and point at the Merseysiders if their own club puts prices up.
Borson insisted top flight sides will be keen to increase prices to cover inflation.
He told Football Insider: “I bet the other clubs across the Premier League were disappointed – in the boardrooms.
“It’s an easy thing for other fans to point to now. They will say ‘Liverpool didn’t put the prices up, so why are we?’
“That’s going to be an issue. All clubs want to put prices up by at least inflation.
“You can assume that is the case. We’re seeing the accounts for 23/24 come out, with Arsenal, Brentford and Man United this week.
Club | Price |
Arsenal | £1,073 |
Tottenham | £856 |
Chelsea | £810 |
Liverpool | £713 |
Newcastle United | £662 |
“What you see in all of these is a big increase in operating expenses – utility bills and other costs of running the operation.
“The clubs will want to at least by covering inflation with an increase in ticket prices.
“If Liverpool have gone out on a limb, then all other fans will be outraged and point at them.
“We know this is a very big issue for fans, we’re seeing constant protests and correspondence with the clubs.
“But ticket prices aren’t coming down any time soon. The only question is – how quickly are they going to go up?”

Liverpool line up Isak deal ahead of the summer
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (18 February) that Liverpool could offer Darwin Nunez in part-exchange for Newcastle star Alexander Isak.
Newcastle want well in excess of £100million for their star man – who is also wanted by Arsenal.
Sources have told Football Insider (16 February) that Liverpool’s interest in Isak is “genuine” and “very strong”.
The Sweden international has scored 21 goals and notched five assists in 30 games this season.
