Stefan Borson: Liverpool fans will be ‘upset’ as Jurgen Klopp plans manager role
Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund fans will be “upset” after Jurgen Klopp surprisingly accepted a new role at Red Bull.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Red Bull is the “antithesis” of the German manager’s former clubs.
Red Bull confirmed on 9 October Klopp has agreed to become the Austrian company’s Head of Global Soccer, where he will oversee their network of international clubs from 1 January 2025.
The energy drinks brand owns RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Bragantino, while it also secured a minority stake in Leeds United earlier this year.
Klopp’s new role comes after he left Liverpool at the end of last season following a nine-year spell at Anfield.
The 57-year-old also previously managed German sides Mainz 05 and Dortmund.
Jurgen Klopp has secured full-time role after Liverpool exit
Borson suggested the role will allow Klopp to get himself back into a full-time position in management after deciding to leave Liverpool.
“I think it’s a good move for him,” Borson told Football Insider.
“He’s going to find out about a multi-club organisation and he’s going to learn a lot from the way Red Bull will do things.
“It’s probably going to upset Dortmund and Liverpool fans because Red Bull are probably the antithesis of those clubs in their eyes.

“But he’s got to look after himself.
“I’m sure he’s going to be very well paid and it allows him to pace himself back into a full-time situation in management, so I think it’s great for him.”
