Stefan Borson: This is how West Ham could spend another £60m on January signings
West Ham are looking to bring in new players to help them avoid relegation to the Championship this season.
West Ham were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium on 6 January, leaving Nuno Espirito Santo’s side seven points from safety.
That defeat followed West Ham’s 3-0 loss against bottom side Wolves, who hadn’t won a Premier League game all season.
The Hammers have already spent more than £45million combined on strikers Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe this month.
However, West Ham’s board are keen to continue spending as they look to get themselves out of trouble.

Why West Ham are facing ‘very difficult’ transfer decision
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider West Ham could decide to spend another £50-60m before the window closes on 2 February if they can pick up points in their next three games.
The Hammers are set to take on London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea away from home either side of their clash against Sunderland at the London Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about West Ham signing more players, Borson said: “It’s a very difficult position that they’re in now. They’re really snookered a little bit because they’re just in that sweet spot of not knowing, but it doesn’t look likely that they can get there.
“I think they’ll probably end up waiting until the end of the month, but then again, that’s got its own risks. If we look at the situation to the end of the month, there’s Spurs away, Sunderland at home is not an easy game, and Chelsea away. That’s just until the end of the month.

“I mean, if they were to lose those three, I think they’re down and then they’ll maybe just say, ‘Actually it’s not worth spending’.
“If they can get a couple of wins out of those games, then you could say, ‘Well the window’s closing, it’s worth spending £50-60m and giving it a go because we’re only maybe four or five wins from safety’.”
West Ham hit by Nottingham Forest blow in relegation battle
Borson insisted West Ham’s issue is there are few teams they can finish above and they have now played Forest both home and away.
“It’s a very difficult situation because there’s just not that many teams in the relegation mix,” said Borson.
“There are not many teams now that West Ham can finish above and one of them is obviously Nottingham Forest, who just beat them.

“The other part of it, of course, is that they’ve now played Nottingham Forest twice, so it’s not like they’ve got Nottingham Forest again to try and pin back between now and the end of the season. It’s done, so it’s very difficult.”
Meanwhile, fifth-bottom Leeds United are eight points above West Ham, while the gap to Bournemouth is 12 points.
