Steve Bruce: You cannot get enough of this Aston Villa player
By Amir Mir
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has stated that “you cannot get enough Gary Gardners around your club”.
Midfielder Gardner signed a new deal with the club on Friday, committing to the Championship side until 2020.
The 24-year-old has come through the ranks at Villa Park, but he has only recently been able to break into the senior side having spent many seasons on loan.
Villa’s relegation into the Championship played a huge part in that first-team opportunity as he now aims to get his boyhood club back to the Premier League.
Ahead of signing a new deal, it was his club manager Bruce who spoke highly of the former Nottingham Forest and Brentford player as reported by the club’s official Twitter account.

“You can’t get enough Gary Gardners around your club,” said Bruce. “[He is] desperate to do well, desperate to succeed. And it could be his time.”

Gardner has played 33 games for Villa in all competitions since his debut in 2011, scoring only one goal during the 1-1 draw against rivals Birmingham City in October.
This season, the Solihull-born player has played 15 Championship and EFL Cup fixtures, starting 12 of those matches.
Whilst Villa were a Premier League side, Gardner was representing the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest in the second division.
He made the most appearances for Forest, over two spells, representing the club on 40 occasions, scoring six goals and supplying two assists.
Gardner will be now looking forward to the busy festive period, with Bruce’s side taking on Burton Albion on Boxing Day, in front of a sell-out crowd at Villa Park.
