Steve Bruce delivers fitness update on Aston Villa quartet ahead of Wigan clash
By Harvey Byrne
Manager Steve Bruce has ruled both Andre Green and Nathan Baker out of the weekend’s clash against Wigan through injury.
However, he has revealed that January signing Scott Hogan has returned to training this week, while fellow winter addition Henri Lansbury could also return on Friday ahead of the meeting at the DW Stadium.
Centre-back Baker featured in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, while Green has been missing from the last three league encounters.
Bruce would have been hoping to go into the clash against a managerless Wigan team with a fully fit squad, but the returns of both Hogan and Lansbury could provide a huge boost.
The experienced manager provided the update on the quartet in his press conference on Friday morning, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

Bruce’s men are currently in good form with four wins coming from their last five league games.
They are 14 points away from the play-offs with nine matches of the season left and while they may seem out of reach now, the Midlands giants will be keen for a strong finish to take into the next campaign.
