Steven Bergwijn development is 'huge for Tottenham' and could decide top-four race - expert
Steven Bergwijn’s form could be “huge” for Tottenham as they look to secure a top-four finish.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Bergwijn, 24, scored off the bench as his side beat Newcastle 5-1 on Sunday (3 April).
This was the winger’s ninth league appearance in a row in which he has come off the bench.
He has struggled for game time following the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski on loan from Juventus in January.
However, Wenham claims Bergwijn’s late goal could be “huge” in Tottenham’s season.

“Bergwijn came on and get himself a brilliant goal,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He is bang in confidence right now. If he keeps coming off the bench like that, there are more goals there
“If he could get three more goals like that this season, in pivotal games at pivotal times, that could be huge for us.
“We have to properly utilise the squad until the end of the season. Everyone is bang in confidence now.
“That could be a deciding factor. It’s rare to praise the squad depth at Tottenham but here we are.”
Bergwijn scored two last-gasp goals to turn a loss into a win against Leicester City on 19 January.
He was subject to interest from Ajax in January but a move did not materialise.
