Football fans have taken to Twitter to brutally mock Clint Hill after the Carlisle defender boldly claimed that Rangers can still win the Scottish Premiership title ahead of Celtic.

The Light Blues are six points behind Brendan Rodgers’ side in the league table, with the Hoops also having a game in hand to their advantage.

However that has not stopped former Ibrox defender Hill from claiming that if Graeme Murty’s side can beat Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday, then they have a good chance of finishing top of the Scottish Premiership standings.

“[Rangers] will go into this game full of confidence, at home, with the crowd behind them,” Hill said to BBC Scotland, as quoted on the BBC Sport website.

“If they get a win then they seriously are title contenders. They have to be judged that way.”

Hill’s comments led to an onslaught of British football fans mocking him for his claim, with one suggesting that the former Rangers and QPR centre-back “should stop drinking”.

Hill only spent one season on the books at Ibrox before he was released by Pedro Caixinha at the end of last season.

He left a last impression on Rangers fans and was one of the best performers in a disappointing season.

The centre-back’s last-minute equaliser against Celtic at Parkhead while Murty was in charge was no doubt a highlight of his time in Scotland.

In other Rangers news, fans have demanded the club to sign this “outrageous” international attacker in the summer.
