Harry Winks’ days in North London may be numbered if Tottenham land Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Amadou Haidara in a potential switch reported by The Sun.
The Spurs midfielder has struggled to make a place for himself in the first team, despite looking a shoe-in for more game-time following his display against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu earlier in the season.
But his form has petered away and he has been limited to FA Cup starts against Newport County and Rochdale – and he didn’t perform well in either of these.
According to Mauricio Pochettino, Winks, who was also a non-inclusion in the England squad for the upcoming friendlies, has an ankle issue which means that he cannot fully express himself on the field of play.
And with the Lillywhites now being linked with a move for Haidara in the summer, you have to ask exactly where that leaves the 22-year-old.
With Mousa Dembele, Moussa Sissoko, and Eric Dier all occupying the central midfield zone, competition is fraught and he has already been dropped dowj the pecking order.
The potential arrival of Haidara in the summer will only make the challenge for places harder for Winks who has so far been unable to stand up to the competition already ahead of him.
Since the turn of the year, the Tottenham ace has been a shadow of himself and if the Malian international makes his way to North London this summer, should an offer comes in for the 22-year-old, they may find it hard to turn down. If not, he may head out on loan.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs will win PL if they snap up Portuguese ace tearing up the top-flight.
