Sunderland have landed a brilliant talent in Cirkin Tottenham 'didn't want to let go' - Phillips
Kevin Phillips is excited about new Sunderland signing Dennis Cirkin after hearing an expert’s verdict.
The Black Cats legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to his former side’s latest capture.
Sunderland announced the permanent signing of Cirkin on August 11th as he joined from Tottenham.
He arrives on a three-year deal and could make his debut against MK Dons on Saturday.
The 19-year-old made 14 appearances in the Premier League 2 last season but never made a senior appearance for the north London giants.
Despite this, Phillips admits he’s excited about Cirkin after hearing from a lower league football expert.

“He’s a good player,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I did the EFL show on Quest through the week and one of their football experts spoke very highly of him.
“Tottenham didn’t want to let him go so I think it’s a really good signing. especially on a permanent deal, that’s huge.
“He’s been training with top, top players and he can pass that on to the rest of the squad.
“Hopefully he can cut it in League One and it highlights the signings the new owner is trying to make.
“He’s someone who can push Sunderland to that next level, he’s an exciting boy.
“Sunderland are having a go and signing young players, me and the fans have been crying out for that for ages.”
Sunderland won their opening League One game of the season against Wigan last weekend.
Aidan McGeady and Ross Stewart scored in the 2-1 win as Charlie Wyke lined up against his former side.
