Sven Botman issues five-word Newcastle message after injury development
Sven Botman has broken his silence after taking another step towards a return to action for Newcastle United.
The centre-back has not made a competitive appearance for the Magpies since an FA Cup clash with Man City in March this year due to an ACL injury.
However, he took another step towards his return to action on Monday night (16 December), by playing 60 minutes for the club’s Under 21s side in a 3-2 win over Chelsea.
With that meaning the Dutchman is moving closer to playing for the first-team again, it appears he is relishing a return to that level of action.
Taking to his Instagram story after that appearance for the academy side, the Newcastle man wrote: “Bring back the good times.”
Sven Botman return will be a major boost for Newcastle
Football Insider Opinion
The progress that Botman is making as he closes in on a return to action will be a huge relief to those of a Magpies persuasion.
Eddie Howe’s side have had to deal with a number of frustrating and costly injury blows already across the course of the campaign that have not helped them.

So to have a player moving in the right direction when it comes to his own injury situation, as Botman is here, will surely provide a big lift around Newcastle.
The 24-year-old is obviously a very good defender at this level as well, having been key for the club when he was fit and available prior to this injury.
So having him back may well add to the confidence at Newcastle that they can start to climb further up the table after a mixed season so far.
But despite all that, after so long out Botman will still need time to build up his match fitness again meaning Howe and co. must be careful about how they use him when he first returns to the squad.
