Sven Botman shares Harvey Barnes link-up amid Newcastle United exit rumours
Sven Botman shared a new video with teammate Harvey Barnes away from Newcastle United before the players return for pre-season.
The 25-year-old defender was forced to experience another frustrating campaign at St James’ Park after picking up another long-term injury and only making 10 total appearances in 2024/25.
Nonetheless, Botman is ready to fight for a contract extension at Newcastle, with the club more confident of keeping their biggest stars after securing Champions League qualification last term.
Barnes’ future remains up in the air, though, with Mick Brown telling Football Insider that the Magpies could cash in on the winger if they can sign Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga this summer.
The former Leicester City man took full advantage of Anthony Gordon‘s absence from the starting lineup, notching nine goals and four assists in 40 appearances, and is now a potential transfer target.
Sven Botman and Harvey Barnes keep fit away from St James’ Park
Taking to Instagram stories (27 June), Botman tagged Barnes in a new training video, with the pair working hard to stay fit ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Supporters will be excited for the defender to return fully fit, also wanting the winger to remain at St James’ Park instead of finding a new club this summer.

Eddie Howe to keep Newcastle United stars this summer
Football Insider verdict
Football Insider understands that Champions League qualification has added to Newcastle’s confidence of keeping Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes despite the heavy exit links.
Despite losing 1-0 to Everton on the final day of the Premier League season, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest both losing meant the Magpies secured a top-five spot in the division.
That has not stopped the transfer rumours from swirling around St James’ Park, but it has certainly helped supporters to remain calm over the prospect of big-name players leaving this summer.

Sandro Tonali is one of the players linked with a Newcastle exit, though, according to Football Insider, Howe’s side will not entertain any offers for the Italy international this summer.
Nick Pope could be set to move on, but with recent updates, it appears that Burnley’s James Trafford is going to replace him like-for-like ahead of the 2025/26 campaign kicking off.
The likes of Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff, and Tino Livramento all face uncertain futures as well, and fans will not rest until the summer transfer window slams shut and the squad is set.
