Erik Sviatchenko delivers Twitter message after Celtic secure Scottish Premiership title

By Danny Wright

Erik Sviatchenko has taken to Twitter to laud Celtic’s amazing season after they secured the Scottish Premiership title with a victory over Hearts.

The 25-year-old watched the game from home after he earlier revealed that he was suffering with illness.

However it didn’t stop the Dane from joining in with the title celebrations when he posted on his personal Twitter account boasting about Celtic securing their sixth consecutive league title.

Stuart Armstrong, Patrick Roberts and a superb Scott Sinclair hat-trick helped Brendan Rodgers’ side ease to a 5-0 hammering of Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Bhoys opened up a 25 point gap over second-place Aberdeen which is mathematically beyond them, despite their 7-0 win at Dundee on Friday.

Since moving to Parkhead from FC Midtyjlland in 2016, Sviatchenko has asserted himself as one of the club’s standout defenders and has made a total of 55 appearances in all competitions.

The five-time Denmark international hasn’t started a game since his less-than-convincing display in the 1-1 draw with Rangers in mid-March.

He came off the bench in the narrow victory over Dundee just before the international break to help see out the win but wasn’t named in the squad for Sunday’s title-winning victory at Tynecastle.

Sviatchenko has made 23 appearances in Celtic’s triumphant league campaign, scoring once in a 2-0 win over Ross County in December.

In other Celtic news, fans have reacted to reports linking them with signing this Rangers 20-year-old.
