Swap deal 'to be done' for Naby Keita after Liverpool source's update - pundit

Kevin Campbell has claimed “there is a deal to be done” involving Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker suggested Jurgen Klopp’s “influence and connections” at the German club will also work in Liverpool’s favour.

Bellingham is attracting the attention of Europe’s top clubs after an impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign.

Sources told Football Insider (27 August) that extensive talks have been held behind the scenes with the player’s camp.

According to Bild (25 September), the Reds could use Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Keita to secure a deal for Bellingham in January.

Keita has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield.

When asked by Football Insider if Keita could be decisive in the race to sign Bellingham next year, Campbell said: “Of course.

“There is always a deal to be done if you have a player that Dortmund want.

“There is going to be a lot of teams knocking on the door for Bellingham next summer. It is not going to be an easy one for Liverpool to do.

“I think Jurgen Klopp’s influence and connections at Dortmund will help Liverpool.

“Every top club would love to speak to Bellingham if he becomes available. They will want him in their building.

“It is geared for Liverpool to do but it will not be easy, that’s for sure.”
