Celtic are doing the right thing in sending youngster Kundai Benyu out on loan for the second-half of the season.
In a move exclusively revealed by Football Insider on Tuesday night, the 20-year-old is set to join English League One side Oldham in January, as he looks to find some regular playing time and talks are now at an advanced stage between the two British clubs.
Benyu was signed in the summer from Ipswich, and after a run of games at the start of the season he has faded from the first-team picture altogether.
Brendan Rodgers is correct in offloading the attacker to earn some regular playing time in a tough league, which the League One undeniably is, and Oldham are currently in a relegation battle.
The Hoops manager will no doubt be hoping that the Englishman can follow in the footsteps of Kristoffer Ajer, who seems to be the blueprint for what players on loan can achieve.
The young Norwegian spent the entirety of last season on-loan at Kilmarnock but has now forced his way into the heart of the Bhoys defence, and looks set to be a mainstay for years to come.
When Benyu returns to Glasgow the Hoops may well be starting their four round battle to qualify for the extremely lucrative Champions League group stages.
If he is able to impress at Oldham he could find himself in the Celtic squad for those important games, and his career at the Hoops can go on from there.
In other Celtic news, Lewis Morgan is reportedly very close to completing his move from St Mirren to Celtic
