TalkSPORT pundit and former West Ham defender Daniel Gabbidon believes January signing Jose Fonte is the first “decent signing” for the club in two windows.
The Hammers announced the addition of the 33-year-old Portugal international from Southampton in an £8million deal on Friday.
He has played for the south coast side for seven years and has racked up a total of 154 Premier League appearances in the club’s rise up the English pyramid.
However, Gabbidon, speaking on his personal Twitter account believes the Hammers’ transfer business of late has been very poor, stating that Fonte is the only good signing in a scathing verdict.

Fonte has become the 12th signing for the club in the past year, which includes the likes of Simone Zaza, Andre Ayew and Sam Byram.
The east London side had hopes of pushing on from a successful last campaign where they finished in seventh in their last season at Upton Park.
However, the Hammers were dumped out of the Europa League at the qualifying stage for a second season running, while they are currently sat in 12th and eight points from seventh placed Everton.
Fonte is the first player to have made the switch to West Ham in the winter window and they will now be hoping it’s a step in the right direction.
