BBC pundit makes big claim about Celtic loss v Hearts
BBC pundit Tam McManus believes Celtic will benefit after their 69-match unbeaten domestic run ended with a 4-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle.
It is the first time Celtic have lost in domestic action since the 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone in May 2016, 585 days ago.
McManus heaped praise on Craig Levein’s Hearts side for their performance in what was a stunning victory at Tynecastle.
However, the former Hibernian forward also believes that the defeat could work in Celtic’s favour, as it will allow them to play with more freedom, without having to worry about protecting their record.
McManus took to social media after the full-time whistle and posted this message on his official Twitter account.
Hearts totally outplayed Celtic in a stunning victory at Tynecastle. The home side took the lead on 26 minutes through a fantastic strike by 16-year-old Harry Cochrane. Kyle Lafferty doubled the lead with a long-range effort, ten minutes before half-time.
David Milinkovic rounded goalkeeper Craig Gordon to make it 3-0, just three minutes after half-time.
Hearts were then awarded a penalty Gordon brought down Ross Callachan and Milinkovic made it 4-0 by smashing the spot-kick into the corner for his second.
The defeat is Rodgers’ first loss as Celtic boss against Celtic opposition. The Hoops remain two points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, two points ahead of second-place Aberdeen with a game in hand.
In other Celtic news, Hoops fans were furious with this player for his performance in the defeat at Tynecastle.
