Tanguy Ndombele: Tottenham tipped to strike cut-price permanent deal with Lyon – pundit
Lyon will try and negotiate a cut-price deal with Tottenham for Tanguy Ndombele, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward delivered his verdict after Ndombele completed a loan move back to Lyon.
The French club confirmed on deadline day (31 January) the midfielder had returned on a temporary deal to the end of the season but they have the option to make the move permanent.
Sky Sports reported the same day that it would cost £54million to make the deal permanent and Lyon have paid a £1.2million loan fee.
He moved to Spurs from the Ligue 1 side back in the summer of 2019 for a club-record fee of £63million but has failed to nail down a regular place in the starting XI under four different managers.
As quoted by French outlet RMC Sport on Wednesday (2 February), Ndombele insisted his Tottenham career is not over and there is no pressure for his loan move to become a permanent one.
Asked whether he thought the midfielder’s Spurs career was over, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It could be.
“But I don’t see Lyon paying that sort of money, to be honest.
“There will be a negotiation on that price. I can’t see Lyon paying that sort of money for someone like Ndombele.”

Ndombele scored 10 times and provided nine assists in 91 games across all competitions for Tottenham.
The 25-year-old played 96 times in his first spell at Lyon, scoring four goals and contributing 16 assists in the process.
