'A team with all the ingredients' - BBC pundit delivers verdict on Manchester United title chances

By Aramide Oladipo

BBC pundit Alan Shearer believes that Manchester United are the favourites to win the Premier League this season and claims that they are “a team with all the ingredients to do it”.

Jose Mourinho’s side currently sit at the top of the table thanks to back-to-back 4-0 wins against West Ham United and Swansea City.

United strolled to a comfortable victory at the Liberty Stadium this weekend with Eric Bailly, Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial getting on the scoresheet against the Swans.

The Manchester club, West Bromwich Albion and newly-promoted Huddersfield Town are the only teams in the Premier League to pick up consecutive wins in the brand new campaign.

Writing in his column for the Sun, Shearer, who is a regular on BBC, is convinced that United’s strength in depth will be the key to their success this season.

“I tipped Manchester United to win the title and the very early evidence has simply strengthened my view,” he wrote.

“This is a team with all the ingredients to do it. They are big and powerful — with pace on the pitch and strength in depth off it.

“Few can call on players with the talent of Anthony Martial or Ander Herrera late in games. Teams are supposed to look weaker when they make changes.  This side seems to get stronger with the fresh legs.”

The Red Devils enjoyed a similar start to the Premier League campaign last season, picking up consecutive wins against Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull City but they went on to lose their next three matches in all competitions.

Mourinho and his men will look to continue their unbeaten start when they welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
