Terms agreed: Newcastle United could sensationally hijack Tottenham’s Antonio Nusa deal – sources
Newcastle United are discussing sensationally hijacking Tottenham’s deal for Club Brugge star Antonio Nusa, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Magpies are eyeing up the 18-year-old as a potential replacement for Miguel Almiron.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (23 January) that Almiron has agreed terms with Al-Shabab – accepting what is believed to be a “huge” offer from the Saudi Pro League outfit.
However, Newcastle and Al-Shabab are yet to reach an agreement on a fee for the Paraguay international.
The Magpies are looking to raise funds for new recruits through player sales and to help improve their Financial Fair Play situation.
Nusa has been identified as a potential target for Eddie Howe’s side – who have placed a particular emphasis on signing young talent since their Saudi-backed takeover.
They have held internal talks about making a move for the rising star at a time when Spurs are in pole position.
Football Insider revealed on Saturday (20 January) that Tottenham were closing in on the signing of the Club Brugge wonderkid.
Spurs took the initiative in the race for his signature by offering to loan the teenager back to Brugge for the remainder of this season.
But now Newcastle are now plotting a swoop for the Norway international, who is keen to remain in Belgium until the summer.

Nusa has managed four goals and three assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this term.
The winger has already racked up four Norway caps, notching one goal and four assists.
