'Humongous...Sensational' - Exclusive: Darren Bent in awe of what he's seen at Leeds

Darren Bent has been left in awe over Leeds United managing to keep four clean sheets on the bounce in their hunt for promotion.

The former Aston Villa and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the Whites have been “absolutely sensational” to keep the opposition at bay recently.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men ended a run of three consecutive 1-0 wins on Saturday, with a Tyler Roberts brace helping them to a convincing 4-0 victory over Hull City.

However, it is the performances at the other end of the pitch which has had Bent raving, highlighting how they have managed to string a number of consecutive wins together unlike last season.

Bent told Football Insider: “They’ve had four clean sheets on the bounce and I think that’s massive, I think that’s humongous.

“We know at the minute they’re not really a free-scoring team and we know that Bamford’s getting a lot of the blame for that but listen, they didn’t do this at this stage of last season – put four wins in a row together, with four clean sheets.

“I almost think the clean sheets are equally important, defensively they’re strong. They’re peaking at the right time, it’s absolutely sensational what Leeds are doing.”

Kiko Casilla kept three of the four clean sheets before being banned by the FA, Illan Meslier stepping in to keep Hull at bay on Saturday.

The defence has remained the same for all but one game, Gaetano Berardi coming in at centre-back against Middlesbrough.

In other Leeds United news, Michael Brown has reacted to an update on a player he had big doubts over.
