Noel Whelan claims Steven Gerrard “will be over the moon” with Ryan Kent as the attacker continues to impress for Rangers despite recent interest from Leeds United.
The former Aberdeen and Leeds United forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, heaped praise on Kent, 24, as he “continues to produce the goods” for the Glasgow giants.
The winger scored his fourth goal in seven appearances against Dundee United on Saturday as the Gers ran out 4-0 winners at Ibrox.
Football Insider revealed at the end of August that Leeds were readying a second bid for the former Liverpool player having seen an opening bid of £10million rejected by Rangers.
Gerrard has spoke publicly on Kent’s future and insisted that the forward is very much a part of his plans this season.
When asked by Football Insider if was encouraging to see that Kent’s head had not been turned by recent speculation, Whelan said: “That is why he brought him from Liverpool.
“He knows him very well from their time together at Liverpool and he has seen the way he has progressed. Steven knows the kind of character he has.
“He will be over the moon with the way he is playing and that despite all of the transfer talk and speculation he is still producing the goods. Kent has been very professional, got on with his job and enjoyed his time with his manager and teammates. He is paid to score goals and that is what he has done.
“There is no disharmony at Rangers at the moment. Everything is going perfectly and you would not want to change a thing if you were Steven Gerrard.”
