'There's An Imposter' - Exclusive: Liverpool tipped to axe star v Man City by pundit

Paul Robinson insists Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota is in line to be selected ahead of Roberto Firmino for the mouthwatering Sunday showdown against Man City.

The former England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, heaped praise on the 23-year-old who could be the first attacker to “breach” the front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Jota starred in the Champions League last night, scoring a hat-trick as the Reds thrashed Atalanta 5-0 to move five points clear in Group D.

Jurgen Klopp chose Jota to lead the line for Tuesday’s fixture with Roberto Firmino making way for the Portugal international who has now scored six goals in his last four games.

Robinson claims the £41million summer signing has proven he can play in Firmino’s role.

“I think he has made a great case to start against Manchester City,” he told Football Insider.

“When he first signed you thought, ‘Right, he is going to backup to the front three.’ But he has shown with his movement and his finishing that he can play that Firmino role.

“For the first time in a long time the front three at Liverpool could be breached. There could be an intruder. An imposter has come to the party.

“I have been really impressed with him. He just seems to have slotted into that team.

“There is a real opportunity for him to start at the weekend. It is a headache that Jurgen Klopp wants.”
