‘There’s every chance’ – Crystal Palace could sack Oliver Glasner
Crystal Palace have been warned they cannot afford to look too far into the future and may be forced into a decision regarding Oliver Glasner’s future.
The Austrian confirmed he would leave Selhurst Park at the end of the season, but after a run of 11 games without a win, he could be dismissed sooner than expected.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that if things don’t improve quickly, Palace will have no choice but to pull the trigger.
Glasner’s side lost 3-1 to Chelsea last time out, with large sections of the fans turning on the manager amid suggestions his head is no longer with the club.
Crystal Palace will visit Nottingham Forest and Brighton in their next two games, before home fixtures against Burnley and Wolves which could prove decisive.

Crystal Palace could be forced to sack Oliver Glasner
Brown warned Football Insider on 19 January that Glasner’s Crystal Palace comments were “unacceptable” amid the ongoing turmoil behind the scenes at Selhurst Park.
With pressure on his position now at an all-time high, there is a growing feeling they may have to sack the manager in a bid to turn around their fortunes.
“There is every chance Glasner could be sacked by Palace,” Brown told Football Insider.
“The focus has been on the end of the season and what might happen then, but they can’t let themselves be distracted and take their focus off the current situation.
“It proves how difficult winning games in the Premier League is, if you let your heads drop and go on a run without a win, then you’re sliding down the table.
“He has a lot of good will from the FA Cup win, but he’s not immune to being sacked just because of that, especially when results aren’t going his way.
“With any manager in the Premier League, if you go 11 games without a win, questions will be asked.
“I’m not convinced Steve Parish has done a great job at all, but ultimately it’s up to the manager to get results with what he has available to him.
“They need to start winning games and they need to start now. If not, then there’s every chance Glasner could be sacked because this recent form isn’t good enough.
“After the show he put on before, that pressure on his position is even higher than ever, because a lot of the fans are not happy with how he’s handled things.
“It’s a very difficult situation and not one they would have expected to be in, but it could be something they’re forced into before long.
“They have to make a decision one way or another, this run of results have given them no other choice and they’re at risk of getting sucked into a relegation battle.”
Who will be the next Crystal Palace manager?
Despite suggestions he could be sacked sooner than expected, the bulk of the Eagles’ succession planning is focused on a move at the end of the season.
Football Insider revealed on 25 January that Crystal Palace are interested in Andoni Iraola and feel they could beat Man United to the Bournemouth boss.
In what would be considered an ambitious move by the Eagles, they are keeping a close eye on the Spaniard’s contract situation at the Vitality Stadium.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard is also a contender for the Eagles, with his stock having risen thanks to Coventry’s charge to the top of the Championship table.
However, Football Insider revealed Coventry are determined to keep Lampard at the CBS Arena and hope they can deter interest by winning promotion.
