Danny Mills has claimed Jack Grealish will remain at Aston Villa next season after spearheading his boyhood team to promotion.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England defender is in no doubt that the Villa captain has no intention of jumping ship this summer.

He claimed Grealish would not be a regular at a top-six Premier League club and there would be no point making a “sideways” move to a smaller club or one only equally well equipped to stay in the top flight.

Tottenham have been most strongly linked with signing the attacking midfielder after following up their bid last summer with interest in the subsequent windows.

“Why should Grealish move? I can’t see that happening,” Mills told Football Insider. “Aston Villa are a big club and have the potential to stay in the Premier League for a long time.

“Would he get into a top-six side on a regular basis? No, he wouldn’t. Any other move would be a sideways one. There’s no point in joining Wolves. Would Bournemouth or Leicester City or Southampton be a step up? No.”

Grealish has been integral to Villa returning to the Premier League after three seasons in the Championship.

The former England Under-21 international is widely regarded to have been the outstanding player in the English second tier this season.

In the latest Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have reached a verbal agreement to make loan star their first summer signing.
