‘This is a disaster’ – West Ham fans fume at David Sullivan for ‘underwhelming’ signing as transfer finalised
West Ham fans have offered their thoughts on the signing of Adama Traore from Fulham on social media following official confirmation of his arrival from the club.
West Ham look to be turning a corner in the battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League after a run of three consecutive wins against QPR, Tottenham and Sunderland.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side now sit five points from safety and are in better form than 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, but more additions are needed this month to help them dodge the drop come May.
He has already moved to sign Taty Castellanos and Pablo to bolster his forward line, while Traore was linked to the Hammers before January as the Portuguese boss eyed a reunion in the capital.
Talks around a move have ramped up over the last few days, with the club now moving to announce his signing as his two-and-a-half years at Fulham come to an end.

Adama officially joins West Ham from Fulham
Traore was set to join West Ham as soon as the January window opened, but it has taken until 28 January for a deal to materialise due to Fulham still needing him to feature in their squad.
They officially announced the 30-year-old’s arrival with a post on X on Wednesday that read: “West Ham United is pleased to confirm the signing of Spain international winger Adama Traore.”
He registered four goals and 11 assists in 79 appearances across all competitions for the Cottagers, but his best years as a player have undoubtedly been under Nuno at Wolves.
Traore was part of a Wolves team that finished seventh in the Premier League in consecutive seasons under the Portugal native, while he produced his best season with him in charge, registering 17 goal contributions in 54 games in 2019-20.
West Ham fans unhappy with owner Sullivan for Traore signing
Blistering speed and great strength are both synonymous with the way Traore plays, but his output in front of goal has left a lot to be desired throughout his career.
The eight-cap Spain international has scored 14 goals in 262 career Premier League appearances so far, which are substandard numbers for someone who primarily plays on the right wing.
Many West Ham fans believe they need more firepower to avoid relegation, but are not happy with the club for signing a player with the record of the 30-year-old.
One fan replied to his arrival on X by saying: “Couldn’t finish his dinner. Welcome to the mad house. Sullivan out.”
While another said: “This is a disaster, we deserve Championship (football).”
And one fan added: “How….underwhelming. But welcome & good luck.”
