‘This is how Kieran McKenna will respond to West Ham approach’
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna would have no desire to join West Ham in their current predicament.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who is tipping Ipswich to push for promotion back to the Premier League this season.
West Ham’s 3-0 defeat at Wolves has left the future of Nuno Espirito Santo uncertain, with the former Nottingham Forest boss under pressure.
The Hammers are four points adrift of Premier League safety, with former boss Slaven Bilic also a contender to replace Nuno at the London Stadium.
Kieran McKenna ‘wants to stay’ at Ipswich Town
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – does not believe McKenna would join West Ham if Nuno is sacked.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks McKenna is likely to get another chance in the Premier League with Ipswich next season.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think Kieran McKenna now, with Ipswich having a great result at Coventry, they’ve got to fancy themselves to get automatic promotion.
“And so I don’t think Kieran would see himself having to jump to the Premier League when he’s probably got Ipswich, who are a well-run club, and will have money to spend next year. I think his loyalty would be rewarded, and I think he’d want to stay there.
“So I don’t see Kieran McKenna as being one of the names that I’d be putting on there.”

West Ham pursue second January signing
West Ham are now the favourites to sign Troy Parrott, with the Ireland striker wanted by a number of clubs in the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old previously had a spell at rivals Tottenham before joining Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in 2024.
Parrott could be the Hammers’ second forward addition in the window following the recruitment of Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente.
