‘This is the astronomical fee that Chelsea should accept for Cole Palmer’
Cole Palmer remains a major talking point at Stamford Bridge as the Chelsea star continues to be linked with an exit.
Palmer has endured a difficult 2025-26 season, being heavily hit with injuries since the Club World Cup. Yet, he has still managed eight goals and two assists in 19 appearances.
Clearly being impacted by his time on the treatment table, it has been reported that the former Man City gem is homesick, with Man United now heavily linked with a move for Palmer.
Man United may need a replacement for Bruno Fernandes in the summer, so a move for the 23-year-old would make a lot of sense, but Liam Rosenior has rebuffed any of the rumours at Stamford Bridge.
With the player being linked with exits, mainly ahead of the summer, Jamie O’Hara has discussed how much it would take for a bid to be accepted, with the price tags only rising in the Premier League.
Chelsea to hold out for over £100million for Cole Palmer
Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League (28 January), O’Hara said: “You wouldn’t sell Cole Palmer for £80million. We’re seeing Florian Wirtz, players like that, going for £120million.
“It’s astronomical amounts of money; it’s just ridiculous that players go for £100million now. I think it’s crazy. It’s why the level of Premier League football, and the talent, isn’t what it used to be because it’s so expensive.
“But Cole Palmer is one of those players who is worth over £100million. He is one of them.”
Home fans are unlikely to enjoy all the chat around Palmer’s future in West London, but with such a big fee needed to move him away, it should be enough to calm nerves ahead of the summer.
Palmer could join a prestigious Premier League club
For a player who has notched 48 goals and 28 assists in 110 games since signing for the Blues, £100million would probably be a fair price, but it remains to be seen who would pay it.
If that price tag were met by another club, whether that be English, or the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Barcelona, he would join a rather awesome set of names.
There are just five players in the Premier League, at least so far, who have been sold for triple figures, with Philippe Coutinho still the record holder due to his £142million move to the Camp Nou.
After the Brazilian is Eden Hazard, followed by Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice, and Jack Grealish, who is now recovering from a major injury at Everton after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.
It does go to show that a lot of money is being spent in the Premier League, rather than a lot of big names going elsewhere, so Chelsea fans might take that as a positive sign.
