This is where Ange Postecoglou will go after leaving Nottingham Forest, ‘he will get the chance soon’

Ange Postecoglou could get the chance to return to management in the near future.

Postecoglou was sacked by Nottingham Forest on Saturday (18 October), after taking charge of just five Premier League matches.

Forest failed to win a single game under the 60-year-old, losing six and drawing two in all competitions while he was at the helm.

It is the second time the Australian has lost his job this year, after Tottenham dismissed him at the end of last season.

Ange Postecoglou will struggle for a job in the UK

On Tuesday (21 October), Football Insider exclusively revealed that Postecoglou would seriously consider a sensational return to Celtic if the opportunity arose.

However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – doesn’t believe that the ex-Spurs boss will get another chance in the UK.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Postecoglou will have to go overseas to find his next job, which could be with an international side.

Wyness added that there will be some managerial changes in the Persian Gulf region soon, which could provide the Australian with a route back into management.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think Ange has to go overseas, either as an international manager again or another club, but I think it’d be overseas.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something back in Asia. I think he’s going to have to take a break. I don’t see him back in the Premier League. There may be a championship club that would take a chance on him, but I don’t think he’s the right fit for that.

“I do think it won’t necessarily be in the UK. I would think that Asia would probably be the choice. That’s where he might end up.

“There’ll be some managerial changes in some of the Persian Gulf teams fairly soon and I think he might be in line for one of those. Then he may be looking at some stage to come back to the UK, but I really don’t think he’s going to get the chance for a while.”

Postecoglou’s reputation has been ruined

Postecoglou had two very successful years in charge of Celtic before leaving in the summer of 2023 to join Spurs.

However, since then his reputation has continued falling to the point where he may now have to look overseas for a job.

Despite winning the Europa League with Tottenham, he guided them to an abysmal 17th-place finish in the Premier League during his final season in charge

With his spell at Nottingham Forest also ending in disaster, his stock has never been lower.
