Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has been critical of Pontus Jansson after he posted on Instagram earlier this week where he admitted his form has been “s**t”.

Jansson, 26, was axed by Christiansen from the Whites first-team on Saturday when they beat Bristol City 3-0 at Ashton Gate, ending a run of a three losses in a row and putting them firmly back in the Championship promotion race as the season starts to gain some momentum.

After last week’s loss against Reading, the Swedish centre-back took to his personal Instagram account to confess that his form hasn’t been great after four losses in five games, despite going on a run of keeping six clean sheets prior to that.

Now, Christiansen has revealed that it is a good thing that Jansson has identified his poor form, but has slammed him for the way he went about expressing it, suggesting that it is the sort of thing that should remain in-house.

“If he recognises he’s not been good that’s positive but you don’t need to go out to the media and expose yourself,” said the Dane, as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

“The thing to do is work for the team and come back. And for sure he will.”

Matthew Pennington was called upon to replace Jansson in the starting line-up on Saturday, and it seemed to have a great effect as Leeds racked up a sensational win against one of the Championship’s in-form sides, to see them move up to fourth in the table.

Samu Saiz scored a first-half brace before Pierre-Michel Lasogga rounded off the victory in the second half from a Kalvin Phillips corner.

In other Leeds United news, Whites owner Andrea Radrizzani slammed the fans on Twitter after the win against Bristol City.
