‘Thomas Frank dumps Fabio Carvalho with reserves at Brentford’

Brentford forward Fabio Carvalho is now completely out of Thomas Frank’s plans at the club as the forward struggles to impress, reports The Mail.

The former Fulham wonderkid joined Brentford in the summer for £27.5million from Liverpool, but has failed to nail down a starting role at the club.

Carvalho impressed during pre-season for Liverpool, and fans wanted to see the talented forward remain at the club, but the Reds decided to cash-in.

Now, that decision looks to have been the right one, as Carvalho has been slated for his Brentford performances.

The forward has now fallen out-of-favour with the Brentford manager, and The Mail reports that the former Red is not injured, and is out of Frank’s plans at the moment, having been consigned to duty with the reserves.

Carvalho has now been consigned to a place in the Brentford B team, appearing in the starting line-up as they took on Ipswich on 17 February.

The Portuguese U21 international has not started a game since the shock 1-0 defeat to Plymouth in the FA Cup on 11 January.

The forward’s last start in the Premier League came in a 4-2 win over Newcastle on 7 December.

Brentford rejected an offer from Lyon for Carvalho in the January transfer window, despite enduring a difficult season with the Bees.

Leeds were encouraged to sign Carvalho in January, but no offer came to fruition for the former England U18 international.

Football Insider Verdict

Carvalho is unfortunately following a familiar path to many talented Fulham youth-teamers that came before him.

Patrick Roberts joined Man City in a £10million deal, and found himself loaned out to multiple teams, before finally settling at Sunderland.

Ryan Sessegnon, two years Carvalho’s senior, made a £30million move to Tottenham in 2019, before returning to the Whites on a free transfer this summer.

The Portuguese forward must now impress for Brentford’s B team if he is to prove himself not to be another flop from the esteemed Whites academy.
