Thomas Frank must unleash rarely-seen Tottenham gem likened to Harry Kane after what he did

Thomas Frank has already trusted several of his young stars as he attempts to move forward into a new era at Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Daniel Levy during the summer, not for his use of players, but due to Spurs finishing 17th in the Premier League table, albeit he did lift the Europa League trophy.

The likes of Lucas Bergvall, Pape Sarr, and Archie Gray were forced to face an incredibly difficult campaign, though that will have only benefited their development in the long run.

In fact, Bergvall has grown into an important role at Tottenham since his arrival from Djurgarden.

French duo Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert have also significantly reduced the average age in the final third for the Lilywhites, and that trend could continue if he were to trust an academy graduate.

Dane Scarlett is still being overlooked at Tottenham

Sent on loan to Oxford United last season, where he notched four goals and an assist in 22 games, Dane Scarlett is currently playing his football for the Under-21s after being on the bench for back-to-back senior matches.

Peter Crouch is clearly a big fan of the player, speaking back in January when Spurs beat Elfsborg [Tottenham News], saying: “There’s a certain number nine at this football club, I remember him going on loan at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Leicester.

“Obviously, that was Harry Kane I was talking about, you know, you end up being an absolute legend at the club. It’s a lot to live up to, I mean that calibre of player, but I thought his [Scarlett’s] all-round game was fantastic, he held the ball up well, he set up the second goal.”

Since returning from his loan spell, however, the 21-year-old has not been given any minutes in the first team, but he continues to prove exactly why Frank needs to change that moving forward.

Scarlett scores a beauty for Tottenham Under-21s

Against Newcastle United on Sunday, 5 October, the Lilywhites were 4-1 winners, and Luca Williams-Barnett was a standout performer during the 90 minutes.

However, it was Scarlett’s goal that was the pick of the bunch, and it showcased exactly what the youngster is capable of once given an opportunity to shine and lead the line.

Although Richarlison has improved quite a lot, he is still not the figure that Spurs are looking for, and Randal Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke cannot be relied upon to stay fit right now.

If Frank were to take a risk with Scarlett, he might get a nice surprise in North London.
