Tottenham have spent much of the season without the injured Erik Lamela, but his absence has painted a clear picture of what the future holds for the player at the club.
The clock appears to be ticking down on his time with the north London club, with Tottenham understood to be considering cashing-in on the 25-year-old this summer.
Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport has listed Inter Milan as one of a host of top European clubs looking to take Lamela off their hands.
But if Tottenham permit him to discuss a move to the Serie A giants, they should target one of these three stars in return.
The most like-for-like replacement for Lamela would be Ivan Perisic, and he would add much-needed quality to what is arguably Tottenham’s weakest area.
Perisic has already been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, and Tottenham would gain a lot from the 28-year-old because of what he can offer.
The Croatia international continues to cause havoc for his Italian opponents, scoring nine goals and supplying seven assists so far this season.
A near perfect example of a direct winger, his determination, pace and tenacity are three key attributes that could do wonders for Tottenham’s Premier League title bid, while his off-the-ball intelligence lends nicely to Mauricio Pochettino’s pressing game.
If Tottenham want to be particularly ambitious, they should try and negotiate a deal that could see Mauro Icardi trade places with Lamela.
In the absence of Harry Kane, Tottenham have no outright goalscorer. With the England international currently sidelined, the next few weeks will provided an interesting test of their credentials, but it is already evidently clear they need another goalscorer to ease the burden.
Icardi, 24, is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe, having scored 22 goals from 32 appearances this season, and a potential partnership with Kane could make for one of the most formidable attacking line-ups across the globe.
There will be concerns over the player’s wage demands, but with Champions League football on offer there should be no doubts about Tottenham attracting a player of that calibre to the club this summer.
Following the success of midfield duo Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama, as well as the emergence of youngster Harry Winks, Tottenham are not exactly short of quality in the middle of the park.
However, Brozovic would still be a handy addition to the ranks; and could be available this summer. The 24-year-old midfielder is one of Croatia’s top footballing talents, and is somewhat of a jack of all trades.
He can perform in both defensive and attacking midfield roles, possessing a crucial creative spark but also with a firm knowledge for his defensive duties.
His five goals this term demonstrate his eye for goal, while his four assists offers a glimpse of his ability to create chances in the final third. His vision is impeccable.
