Three Leeds United players have been demoted to the Under-23s after being in the matchday squad for last weekend’s defeat against Cardiff City.
Striker Jay-Roy Grot, midfielder Romario Vieira and left-back Tom Pearce drop down to the development squad for their lunchtime clash against Nottingham Forest in the Professional Development League at United’s Thorp Arch training headquarters.
Grot and Pearce are in the starting XI, while Vieira, who is the brother of established first teamer Ronaldo Vieira, is on the substitute’s bench.

Grot came off the bench in the 86th minute of Leeds’ 4-1 Championship defeat to Cardiff last Saturday, while Romario Vieira and Pearce were unused substitutes.
Given their inclusion in the Under-23s’ side for the Friday afternoon match, it is extremely unlikely they will be involved in the senior team’s clash against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, which is a 12.30pm Saturday kick-off.
Professional players are recommended to have two or three days recovery time after a match, which makes it surely impossible for the youthful trio to feature in new manager Paul Heckingbottom’s first match at the helm.
In other Leeds United news, fans have gone into meltdown after it has been confirmed that the club have bid “extraordinary” sum of up to £12million for goal machine.
