Jurgen Klopp will begin his second full season at Liverpool hoping to add a Premier League trophy to the club’s name.
Here, Football Insider analyses which three players will be important to the club mounting a title challenge next term.
Philippe Coutinho – The highly-rated playmaker is arguably the club’s most important player when he is on song. If he can add consistency to his game then the Reds will be very dangerous ahead of the forthcoming campaign.
Joel Matip – One area in which the Merseyside club struggled to perform in during the recently concluded campaign was defence. German international Matip, who moved to the club last summer, was one of the few defensive players who performed well. If Klopp can add another centre-half alongside Matip then Liverpool will be able to take that vital step forward in winning the Premier League title.
Sadio Mane – The winger’s explosive pace out wide and his ability to find the back of the net was crucial to the Reds picking up points last term. If he can stay fit for the full length of the season then Liverpool will be a very dangerous outfit. Others do need to help him out, but if Klopp can find that balance then the Reds will be almost certain for another top four finish.
In other Liverpool news, Don Hutchinson has urged the club to sign one of these two players.
